Obituary for Carmella "Millie" Poalillo

Carmella "Millie" (Banca) Poalillo, 99, of Holden & Webster, Ma., passed away at home, on Monday, December 7, 2015 with her family at her bedside. Millie would have celebrated her 100th birthday on January 18th. Millie had a long and meaningful life that brought happiness to others. Loving daughter of Mary (Lascari) Banca and Thomas Banca, Millie, was predeceased by her husband Victor J. Poalillo , who had been awarded the bronze star for outstanding courage in World War II. Millie was a long time resident of Rutherford, N.J. Her greatest pleasure was helping her family with sewing, gardening, and making quilts with lots of love tucked in each stitch. She could do magic with her sewing machine and her gardens grew into things of beauty. Beloved mother of Lydia (Poalillo) Lancette, husband Peter J. Lancette, Webster, Ma.,they were blessed and will miss her wisdom, guidance, and caring ways...a loving mother and a wonderful friend. She treasured the time spent with her grandson Peter J. Lancette II, wife Lisa Garrone Lancette, and great grandchildren Juliana Carmella Lancette and Andrew J. Lancette, Charlton, Ma. They were the light of her life and made her heart smile. Grandma was very proud of Peter's academic accomplishments in the medical field and service to his country as Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. She was predeceased by her youngest grandson, Douglas B. Lancette, whom she adored. Millie was the oldest of seven and dear sister of the late Lucy Banca Liberti, Anna Banca Kielmeir, Dominic Banca, Vito Banca, Salvatore Banca and Adolph Banca. Millie's sisters-in-law Olga, Annette, Lois, and Lilly, were like sisters to her. Millie was an owner of the White House Restaurant in Carlstadt, NJ along with brothers-in-law Barney Liberti and Henry Zila, who was a life-long friend. What made her life even more special was the time spent with nieces and nephews whom she loved. Mother...grandmother...great grandmother...sister..."Aunt Millie" will be missed...until we meet again.

Visitation and funeral will be from Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, NJ; Services: First Presbyterian Church; Burial: Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, NJ Times/dates to follow: www.calhounmaniafuneralhome.com/
