Obituary for Richard "Dick" Amato
Richard “Dick”Amato, of Rutherford, passed away on Friday, December 18th, 2015.
He was born to Cosmo & Lucia Amato in Hoboken.
Dick was a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran who served during the Korean War.
He was last employed for 15 years with Square D Co. in Lyndhurst, a former Rutherford Fireman with Hose Company #1 and first Assistant Chief on the Hook and Ladder. He wrote poetry and songs and had a great sense of humor, his family was most important to him.
Dick is predeceased by his wife Margaret Rose (nee Lapnow) 2010. He will be deeply missed by his son Richard Amato, his daughter Lucy Bailey & husband Lew, Gail Olivola, his son’s Larry Amato, John Amato and son- in- law Jim Olivola, his 6 grandchildren; Jaclyn Ashley Laurino, Jim “Jimbo” Olivola, Richie Beach, Lauren Taylor Olivola, John Amato, Raymond Amato and many nieces nephews and friends.
Funeral will be held Wednesday 8:30am from the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.
Followed by Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, No. Arlington, NJ.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 7pm
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rutherford Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 143, Rutherford NJ 07070
