Obituary for Doris Futia
Doris Futia (nee Battaglia), 95, of Rutherford passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 20th, 2017.
She was born to Vincenzo Battaglia and Josephine (nee Rombola) in NYC, NY.
Doris had married the love of her life, the late Dominick Futia who passed away in 1990. They were life long residents of Teaneck. Doris and Dominick owned and operated Charlie's Tavern in Astoria, Queens for 40 years. Doris enjoyed playing cards, Poker, Bingo and Pokeno. She especially enjoyed her beautiful growing family of 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Doris will be deeply missed by her children, Jean Gelok and husband Bob, Barbara Jessen and husband George, her grandchildren; Melissa Centurion and husband Robert, Stephanie Shultz, Lynda Wilde and husband Christopher, George M. Jessen, Christine Jessen, her great-grandchildren; Danielle Centurion, Alex Centurion and Alexa Bernard. She is predeceased by her brother, Carmine Battaglia.
Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4pm and 7-9pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Prayer Service 7:30 pm.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday 8:30am from the Funeral Home for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.
Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hackensack
