Obituary for Robert Bewighouse

Robert  Bewighouse
Robert E.Bewighouse, 88, long time resident of Rutherford passed away in his home on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017.
He was born in Jersey City to J. Elwood Bewighouse and Margaret (nee Diehl) Bewighouse.
Robert was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1948 to 1950 as Radio Operator.

Bob met the love of his life, Rose and together they raised 6 children in Rutherford where they remained for 62 years and married for 64 years. Before his retirement in 1987, Bob was in the skilled profession of Embroidery and was last employed by All American Emblem in North Bergen for 25 years. He was a baseball coach for the farm league in Rutherford, he played softball for the K Realty team nicknamed the “Ageless Wonders.” He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Regina Council 1688 of Rutherford and he was a driver for Archbishop Peter Leo Gerety for many years after retirement.

Bob loved to spend time with his large family and loved doing his daily crossword puzzles. He had a deep love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and each one of them were most important to him.

Bob will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Rose (nee Reardon), his loving children; Robert and wife Lisa, John, James and wife Barbara, Richard and partner Nancy Daly, Mary Jean Murphy and husband Wayne, Susan Syvret, his beautiful growing family of 18 grandchildren; Kenneth, Robert, Elyse, Karol, Tre, Kyra, Logan, Marly, Ryan, Caitlin, Connor, Jillian, John, Meghan, Gavin, Andrew, Caitlin, and Owen; 12 great-grandchildren; Walker, William, Ava, Kenny, Ariana, Jazmin, Sabreena, Ayden, Indira, Djuna, Mackenzie and August. He is predeceased by 2 siblings, Kenneth and Jean. He was also loved by many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday 3 pm - 8 pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, NJ.
Funeral Thursday 8:30 am from Funeral Home for 9:30 am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.

Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
