Giacinto "Gino" J. Sasso, 73, of Rutherford passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017. Gino was born to Damiano and Biagia (nee Scardigno) in Hoboken. He earned a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Chemistry from Rutgers. For 39 years, Gino was employed as a NMR Spectroscopist retiring in 2012 from Hoffman La Roche in Nutley. His favorite pastimes were horse racing handicapping and taking trips to the beach in Spring Lake with his wife Sandra. He enjoyed reading, math, watching science fiction movies, and fondly remembering his beloved Shetland Sheepdog "Jody." He was an active member of St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and past choir member and treasurer.



Gino will be missed by his beloved wife Sandra (nee Kopycinski) Sasso, his devoted son Damiano and wife Jennifer, his siblings Louise Bloomer and husband Tom, Frances Kovarcik and husband Robert, Pat Romano, Rose Scardigno and husband Sam, and various nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Peter Romano.

Family will receive friends Thursday 4 to 8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.

Funeral will be held in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, gathering 9:30am for a 10:30am Prayer Service, followed by Interment in Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery,
1900 Galloping Hill Rd., Kenilworth, NJ
