Marianne Coston, 84, of Rutherford, NJ, beloved mother and loyal friend, died on January 21. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1933, she was the daughter of Frank Joseph and Marie Agnes (Allan) Nelson of Rutherford and sister to Allan Nelson who predeceased her. A 1956 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University-Newark College of Arts and Sciences, she worked as an assistant for Seagram’s before marriage. She taught Fourth and Sixth Grades at Sacred Heart School, Lyndhurst, before a transition to the corporate sector where she worked in promotions and marketing for CPC International/Best Foods from 1977 to 1997. She was a parishioner of the Church of St. Mary, Rutherford. It was her pleasure to serve as Treasurer of the Woman’s College Club of Rutherford. A voracious reader and an avid lover of language, the arts and humanities, she was known for her joie de vivre and infectious laugh. She leaves behind her children: Stephen Coston and his spouse Linda (Saarts) of Montvale, daughter Mary Claire Coston of Rutherford, and son Peter Coston and his spouse Edith Meeks of Weehawken, as well as her nephew Christopher Nelson and nieces Anna Nelson and Margaret Rego. She was predeceased by her former spouse Gerard Francis Coston and longtime companion Henry Aaron Katz.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8pm with Prayer Service at 7:30pm. in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Thursday 8:30am from Funeral Home for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
