Ludwig “Lou”, Sailer, passed away peacefully on January 22nd, 2018.
Lou, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, was born in Klagenfurt, Austria in 1940. As a child he and his family immigrated to the United States. He lived much of his life in Hudson County. Around the time of his retirement and after many years working at General Motors, he moved to Rutherford, NJ.
In addition to being an avid golfer and frequent visitor to the New Jersey Shore, Lou genuinely enjoyed time spent with family and friends. However, there is no doubt that he found his greatest happiness in the loving bond he shared and the precious time spent each day with his grandnieces, Emma, Grace, Elizabeth and Leah as well as the companionship of his little dog Lilly.
Lou is predeceased by his wife of forty years Carolyn (Miller) Sailer, his parents Ludwig and Theresa and his brother Hans. He is survived by his twin sister Helen Sherman, his brother Otto Staszko and Pat, his sister-in-law Eileen Hayes and Mark with whom he shared his home for over 20 years, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 9:00-11:15am in Calhoun-Mania Funeral home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, followed by 12pm Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, thereafter Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
