Obituary for Salvatore Bentivegna

Salvatore  Bentivegna
Salvatore (“Sal”) Bentivegna, 87, longtime resident of Rutherford, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 21st, 2018.
Born in Jersey City, NJ to Frank and Sebastiana (nee Rosita), Sal was raised in Nutley and Jersey City. He entered the US Army during the Korean War, and remained in the Army Reserves, retiring after 30 years of service.
While in the Service, he married the love of his life, Dolores (nee Formisano). They were happily married for 62 years and raised 5 children together.
Sal was employed by Farmland Dairy as an Electrician Foreman then as a Facilities Manager for Houbigant Co. in Ridgefield Park prior to retiring in 1999. He was a member of Rutherford Chapter of UNICO National and an avid Mets fan. His bright smile, kind heart, and tremendous love for his family will be forever missed.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Dolores, his children, Mark (Barnegat, NJ) Susan Hall & husband Steve (Cape Carteret, NC), Karen Kelly & husband Paul (Rutherford, NJ), and proud “Poppy” to his 8 grandchildren, whom he adored, Mark Jr, Emily “Princess”, Bryan, Matthew, John, Brendan, Timothy and Jackson, a dear brother, John, and loving sister Fortunata “Dolly” Guinta. He is predeceased by his sons, John and Guy, as well as his siblings, Mary Cattano, Anthony (Tony), and Ann Soriero.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday 4-8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Thursday at 10:00am from Funeral Home for 11:00am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave, Rutherford.
Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
