Obituary for Haydee Catalina Vera

Haydee Vera age 79 passed away Thursday November 29, 2018. Haydee was born in San Juan, Argentina on November 24th 1939 and was the second oldest of five children. Her father, Eugenio Vera was a contractor and her mother Clemencia Falcon Vera was a seamstress that tailored men’s suits. Haydee was outgoing and loved life. She was also very creative and for that reason became a beautician, which she was passionate about it. She had her own salon after High School, which was built my her father right next to their home in Villa Krause, San Juan. She became a very well known around the town for her craft and was always busy at work. She met her husband, Carlos Raul Catania, at the age of 25 and married him 5 years later. They decided to leave Argentina after they married to try a new way of life, leaving their family behind.

They had only one daughter and unfortunately Haydee lost twin boys, Eugenio and Jose, at birth. Although Haydee never got over that loss, she made sure to make her daughters life a happy one. Haydee worked in August & Norman’s Beauty Salon in Union City for nearly 16 years and then worked in Michelle’s Styling Salon until she retired. Haydee did get divorced in 1992 and never remarried. She dedicated herself to work and raising her daughter and after her daughter Yanette married Albert Gonzalez, she raised her grandsons, Maximo and Marco.

Haydee was diagnosed with Dementia about 9 years ago and unfortunately it progressed 6 years ago to Alzheimer. She will be missed greatly by her daughter who loved her unconditionally and is heart broken by her loss. Haydee is also survived by her siblings, Rosa and Pedro Vera and Trinidad Gomez.

Family will receive friends December 8, 2018 for Memorial Visiting from 2-4pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
