Obituary for Andrea Camuto

Andrea Camuto
Andrea Pappas Camuto, 42, of Hoboken, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018.

Andrea was born to George and Sheila Pappas and was raised in Frostburg, MD. The family business, the Princess Restaurant, provided the backdrop to Andrea’s childhood and served to strengthen an unbreakable bond with her family. Andrea shared a particularly deep connection and love with her grandparents, George and Dorothy Pappas. She had fond memories of family time spent at their lake house. She often reminisced about Sunday dinners, pulling carrots from their garden, boating on the lake and watching sunsets from the porch swing. Andrea deeply loved her family and was extremely proud of the Princess Restaurant’s storied history and bright future.

Andrea attended Beall High School, where she performed with the Beall High Bells dance team. In her senior year, she was elected captain of the team and performed at the National Championships in Florida. Andrea was also the co-captain of Maryland’s All-Star Dance Team that competed against Virginia at the Chesapeake Classic.

Andrea continued her love of dance as a member of the dance company at Frostburg State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre. While at the University, Andrea directed and acted in many plays and musicals. This foundation in the arts developed further when Andrea moved north and completed an intensive film program at NYU. A successful career in film and television production began soon after, when Andrea was hired as a Production Secretary on season one of “Law and Order: SVU”. For 19 years, Andrea dedicated her incredible work ethic and tireless energy to every position she held. Whether as a Production Coordinator in the office or as a Production Supervisor on set, Andrea’s dependability, intelligence and vibrancy were evident. Andrea’s ability to get things done was second to none and she was universally admired and respected. She was always a genuine presence who was quick to mentor, encourage and assist others in their pursuits. In 2017, Andrea achieved one of her own career goals, when she joined the Directors Guild of America as a Unit Production Manager.

In 2008, Andrea met the love of her life, Chris Camuto, while working on the television show “Rescue Me”. On their first date, Chris knew Andrea was the woman he was going to marry. On October 2, 2010 they made it official. Andrea’s love of travel led the couple to experience bright blue waters off the Amalfi Coast, cobblestone streets of Ravello at dusk, the tranquil paradise of Virgin Gorda, live country music in the dive bars of Nashville and bike trails along the Delaware River in Lambertville, NJ. The couple shared a deep appreciation for music and attended countless concerts. Madi, the couple’s beloved Maltipoo, joined the family in 2015. The trio enjoyed walks around Hoboken, brunches and TV time snuggled together on the couch. In her free time, Andrea enjoyed watching “Days of Our Lives” and all of the programming on the Bravo network. She devoured the works of Nicholas Sparks, danced to Justin Timberlake and sang along with Luke Bryan. Andrea enjoyed fashion and decorating. She had an exquisite and elegant sense of style and dressed for every occasion with grace. She loved pouring her heart into personal projects such as the film “Unforgettable Fire: The Story of a U2 Tribute Band” directed by her dear friend Michelle Regina. Her experiences on that film were among the most rewarding of her career.

The importance of starting a family was paramount to the couple. Over the course of four years, Andrea and Chris confronted the obstacle of infertility side by side and hand in hand. Andrea’s open and honest approach to their infertility struggles, a topic often kept private, served as a comfort to others experiencing similar challenges. After countless doctor’s visits and an abundance of determination, patience, love and hope their son Blake Christopher Camuto was born on October 13th at 13:13 pm. In Andrea’s own words, he is a “miracle” and Chris’s “saving grace.”

Andrea will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband Chris, newborn son Blake, parents George and Sheila Pappas, in-laws Vince and Joanne Camuto, siblings Melissa Andrews, Phillip Pappas and Lauren Pappas, brother-in-laws Erik Camuto and Eric Andrews, sister-in-laws Ashley Pappas and Lisa Camuto, nieces Ashlyn Andrews, Sawyer Pappas, James Pappas, and Emily Camuto, and nephew Nicolas Camuto.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 from 1 - 5 pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave, Rutherford, NJ.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
