Obituary for Catherine Ferguson

Catherine Ferguson
Catherine Mitchell was born on December 8, 1928 in Glasgow Scotland. She worked as a ticket taker on a double decker bus in Scotland and then as a waitress. She and her friends loved to hear music and dance at Barrowlands. She married Alex Thomson and their first child, Alex Jr. was born in Scotland. In 1954 she immigrated to the United States with Alex Sr., his Mom, and sisters Anna and Margaret. Alex and Cathie settled in Kearny, New Jersey where their family grew with the addition of daughter Kim and son David. The traditions and spirit of her Scottish heritage remained close at heart through their friends and activities. Upon retirement Alex and Cathie recreated Glasgow life once again by joining their long time friends at Leisure Village in Lakewood, NJ. Upon Alex Sr’s death, Cathie once again found love and married Dave Ferguson, a longtime family friend, expanding her family once again. Throughout her life, her love of family, her faith, her culture, her shortbread, and a wee cup of tea were all she needed to be happy. We will hold these memories and so many more, close in our hearts.
Catherine was predeceased by her son David, and her husbands Alex Thomson Sr. and David Ferguson. She is survived by her son Alex Thomson his wife Kristina, daughter Kim Anderson her husband John, grandchildren James Thomson his wife Pamela, Lauren Larson her husband Scott, Erica Anderson, and Ian Thomson, also her great grandchildren Damien and Eleanor Larson, her niece Sandra Fee, as well as her extended Ferguson Family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Job Haines Home in Bloomfield, who tenderly cared for her these past few years, or to the Alzheimer’s Association. God bless.
