Angelo was born and raised in Paterson and Elmwood Park. He resides in Pompton Plains with his wife Debra (Delle Chiaie) where they raised two sons, Anthony & Matthew. Anthony is married to their lovely daughter-in-law Ashley and on Sept.8th 2014 the family was blessed with the birth of little Evelyn.
He earned his New Jersey Funeral Directors license in 1975, after graduating from The American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science, NYC in 1974. Prior to that he attended Tombrock College, Bergen Community College, and Don Bosco Tech. High School.
Angelo's experience began with the Volk Funeral Homes, with branches in Teaneck, Bogota, Palisades Park and Oradell. After a short time he was selected to manage the Palisades Park location in 1976 at 26 yrs old, the youngest non-owner Manager in the State of NJ.
As a manager, he handled all aspects of the business. During that time he was appointed by Mayor and Council to the Free Public Library Board of Pal. Pk. He also served as a Founding Member and Trustee of the Palisades Park Homeowners Association, Past Pres. and Secretary of the Palisades Park UNICO and member of the Palisades Park Knights of Columbus Council 3550 as a third degree Knight.
Angelo holds current memberships to The National Funeral Directors Association, New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association, Bergen County Funeral Directors Association, The British Institute of Embalmers and the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, The Funeral Directors Ethics Assoc.-Manual of Professional Practice.
From 1993 to present he is an active independent funeral director and operates a Funeral Director Support Service named "AGM Funeral Service" , offering a full range of professional services to independent / family owned Funeral Homes.
In 2010 Walter Calhoun Jr, happily passed the torch of the 129 year old establishment to his trusted friend Angelo G. Mania, CFSP (Academy Certified Funeral Service Practitioner) who has been part of the Calhoun “Family of Service” since 1996. As President and Manager of the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, Angelo applies all of his experience and promises to continue to build upon the "Family Owned" legacy and always strive to improve the Funeral Home's established 1884 position in Rutherford and surrounding communities.
Angelo's passion is flying! He is a Private Pilot and holds a single-engine, multi-engine and instrument rating. He is a member of (AOPA) the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, (EAA) Experimental Aviation Association and NJ Aviation Association. He also plays and loves his 47yr old drums, his collection of guitars including his favorite 1973 Les Paul guitar and he is also a true car aficionado; he can often be found under the hood of his 1966 Buick Wildcat Custom convertible that he purchased in 1970. He never gets rid of anything!

Walter Jr. was born in Bayonne, New Jersey before moving to Rutherford in June 1955.
He graduated from Horace Mann School in Bayonne, Bayonne Senior High School, and The American Academy / Mc Allister School in New York City.
He married his wife Mary ( O'Donnell) of Bayonne in 1954.
Together they raised 5 children in Rutherford; their son, Walter R. Calhoun III and 4 daughters, Cathleen Lovett of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, Carol L. Calhoun Dooley of Rutherford, Amy Calhoun Murphy of Greenville, SC and Beth Calvo of Rutherford. He and Mary are also the proud grandparents of Ryan Rupan, Laurenand Megan Lovett, Sean Dooley, Ryan and Brendan Quinones, Daniel Hooton, Erin J. Murphy, Andrew J. Calvo and their greatgrandson Camden Rupani.
From 1948-1949 Walter was an Estimator for Kraft Corrugated Container Co. in Bayonne.
In 1949-1955 he began his career in the funeral business for O'Brien Funeral Home in Bayonne,first as a trainee and later a licensed funeral director.
In 1955 when he moved to Rutherford and was employed with John T. Collins, Inc. as a Funeral Director. In 1962 he became Vice President of the firm and in 1968 Walter purchased John T. Collins, Inc. as Pres.,owner-manager of The Collins Calhoun Funeral Home.
From 1985 to 2009 he was joined by his son Walter R. Calhoun, III, who was given the position of Vice President .
In 2009 when his son Walter R. Calhoun III retired he was succeeded by Angelo G. Mania who has been affiliated with the firm since 1995 and is currently President.,owner,Manager of the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home.
Walter Jr. and his wife Mary have enjoyed their life in Lavallette NJ for many years but they have begun a new chapter in Teaneck, NJ closer to their family and friends. They are still snowbirds in Florida.
