Angelo G. Mania, CFSP,
Earned his New Jersey Funeral Directors license in 1975, after graduating from The American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science, NYC in 1974. Prior to that he attended Bergen Community College and Don Bosco Tech. High School.
Angelo's experience began in Bergen County with the well-established Volk Funeral Homes founded by Jacob Volk in 1865. The firm by 1967 had branches in Teaneck, Bogota, Palisades Park and Oradell.
In 1976 Angelo was selected; by the Volk family to take on the responsibility of managing their newest acquisition in Palisaded Park, NJ.
At that time, at the age 26 was the youngest non-owner manager in the State of NJ. And he held that position for 1976 thru 1993.
Following his tenure with the Volk firm,
He was offered and accepted an opportunity with the Mayfair Investment Corp. in Wayne, NJ. Mayfair was Funeral Home Acquisition Company and was offered the position as Vice President of that Division. One of its holdings was The Quirk-Lardier Funeral Homes located in Tenafly, Englewood and Bergenfield Angelo was appointed Vice Pres. and General Manager of that Company.
After a failed purchased attempt, he left that position and started his own business, Angelo G. Mania Funeral Directors, Inc. (DBA) AGM Services. It was a Funeral Home support business specificity designed to offer assistance to small family owned establishments.
He then joined the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home in 1996 through his company AGM Funeral Services. In January 2008 he was appointed manager and in 2010 he entered a buyout agreement with Mr. Walter Calhoun Jr.
Angelo is married to the former Debra (Delle Chiaie) and has two Children, Anthony & Matthew and they reside in Pompton Plains.
Angelo also holds current memberships in The National Funeral Directors Association, New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association, Bergen County Funeral Directors Association, the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, The British Institute of Embalmers and, The Funeral Directors Ethics Assoc.- Manual of Professional Practice.
He also earned his Certified Funeral Service Practitioner status in 2008. (CFSP).
He is a Private Pilot holding a single and multi engine instrument ratings and is a member of (AOPA) the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, a life member of the EAA Experiential Aircraft Association, and the NJAA New Jersey Aviation Association. He also received his Sailing Certification in 2003.
During the past years, he along with his wife Debra have been on a continual quest to redecorated and remodel the funeral home and to offer exemplary service to our families of Rutherford and the surrounding communities.
