Obituary for Henry Zila

Henry Zila
“FAMILY WAS HIS LIFE”

Zila
Henry, 96, of Rutherford, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. He had three concurrent successful businesses: Zila’s Transportation Company, Graphic Plate Lithographic Company, and The White House Restaurant in Carlstadt, all in NJ. He never failed to generously help those in need and showed his trust in human nature by hiring the disheartened; rarely was he disappointed and he was greatly admired and respected by all he met.

He served his country during World War II by doing essential hazardous war work on the home front. Henry was a beloved husband to the late Lillian Zila for 58 years and devoted father to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved cooking and will be remembered by many for his famous Sausage and Peppers, Meatballs, as well as, his fine sense of humor, tenacious spirit, beautiful singing voice and his striking, baby blue eyes! He enjoyed a long life and was fortunate to be in great health until recently; taking pleasure in golfing, fishing and doing many things for others.

Henry will be greatly missed by his three children: Diane E. Hayes and husband Robert, Richard R. Zila, Janice Z. Gallivan and husband Richard, as well as four loving grandchildren: Tracey R. Campana and husband Michael, Wendy H. Sutton and husband Chad, Evan Henry Gallivan and Whitney E Gallivan. He also leaves behind three adoring great grandchildren: Christopher and Nicholas Campana and Isabella Lillian Sutton. In addition, he leaves his loving sister Esther Zila and many much loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
