Obituary for Mary Agnes Calhoun (O'Donnell )

Mary Calhoun, (nee 0'Donnell), 87, of Teaneck formerly of Rutherford and Lavallette passed away Thursday, October 25th, 2018. Mary was born in Bayonne, NJ to William and Anna O'Donnell. As a young woman she attended Bayonne Hospital of Nursing, graduating as an RN. She met the love of her life, Walter R. Calhoun whom she married in 1955. Walter was the Owner/ Funeral Director of Collins Calhoun Funeral Home in Rutherford. They settled in Rutherford, residing in the home attached to the funeral home, where they raised their 5 children. While Mary's children were school age, she became active in St. Mary's Elementary and High School PTA, she was a brownie leader, and a cub scout leader. She was the Public Health Nurse of Rutherford. After retirement, Mary and Walter relocated to Lavallette for 10 years. She became a member of St. Pio of Pietrelcina in Lavallette. When storm Sandy destroyed so much of their home, they decided to move north to Teaneck where they currently resided.
Mary's family was most important to her; they filled her heart with happiness and pride.
Mary leaves behind her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Walter, her adoring daughters; Cathleen Lovett & husband Ted, Carol Calhoun & husband the late Patrick Dooley, Amy Murphy & husband Gerry, Beth Calvo & husband John, her son Walter Calhoun III & Wife Janet, her grandchildren; Ryan Rupani & husband Josh, Lauren Lovett, Meghan Lovett-Goodwin & husband Dakota, Sean Dooley, Brendan QuiƱones, Ryan QuiƱones, Daniel Hooton, Erin Murphy, Andrew Calvo and great-grandchildren; Camden & Chloe Rupani.
Family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Monday 9am from Funeral Home for 10am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford
Interment is private.
