Obituary for Stanley Joseph Chervony

Stanley Joseph Chervony, 93, of Passaic and formerly of Jersey City, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Stanley was born in Jersey City on April 21, 1925, to Walter and Anna Chervony. As a young man, Stanley proudly served as a seaman second class in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his discharge from the U.S. Navy, Stanley proudly worked in maintenance, most notably for the Kraft Cheese Company in Jersey City and the United States Postal Service in Harrison. His dedication to his employment was well recognized, as he received numerous awards for his loyal service. Stanley’s passion and skill for maintenance and repair extended outside his employment and into his own home, as well as the homes of his family and friends. He enjoyed puttering around the house and fixing whatever needed fixing. His talent in doing so was evident in everything he touched. Stanley also took great pride in his family. He always had time to spend with those whom he loved. He enjoyed telling stories about the old days and talking sports. He strived to create positive memories for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of Stanley’s mostenjoyed pastimes included crabbing, fishing, and lounging in his pool. Above all else, Stanley is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was a role model, a patient teacher, and a good man. Those he leaves behind are left with memories of his selflessness and unwavering support and guidance. Stanley was pre-deceased by Irene (nee Buniewski), his loving wife of almost 40 years until she passed away in 1984. He was also pre-deceased by his sisters Pauline Degnaro and Stella DeMicco, and brothers Joseph, Stephen, and Eddie.
